Man shot dead by assailants posing as delivery agents

Gurugram, Haryana, INDIA: A 40-year-old man from Delhi was shot dead by unidentified assailants dressed as delivery personnel in Sector 77 of Gurugram late Monday night. The attackers, wearing uniforms resembling those of Zomato and Blinkit, fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the scene, police said.


The deceased has been identified as Rohit Shaukeen, a resident of Kamruddin Nagar in Delhi. According to preliminary investigations, Shaukeen had travelled to Gurugram for work and was standing outside his car near the Ullahwas market, in front of the Palm Hills Society on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), when the incident occurred.


Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage reportedly captured the assailants approaching Shaukeen under the guise of delivery agents before opening fire. Police said that more than a dozen rounds were fired, with at least five to six bullets striking the victim, killing him on the spot.


A case has been registered at the Kherki Daula police station. Speaking on the incident, Virender Saini, Additional Commissioner of Police (Manesar), said, “The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. A thorough investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and arrest the culprits at the earliest.”


The police are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and are exploring all possible angles, including personal and professional enmity. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
