Taloja, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, INDIA: What began as a simmering feud over a dusty little motor-repair garage exploded into a full-blown daylight bloodbath on Friday August 8, leaving the streets of Taloja littered with weapons, blood stains, and terrified onlookers.
Shortly before 3 pm on August 8, the quiet road from Taloja village to Mannan Colony turned into a war zone. Witnesses say a gang of armed men, led by 60-year-old Abdul Rauf Abdul Razzaq Patel — a man known locally as Madar — descended like a pack of wolves on members of the Sayyed family. Their weapons? Sharp knives, heavy iron rods, thick wooden sticks, and bamboo poles. Their motive? A long, bitter grudge over a garage that just wouldn’t stay demolished.
The illegal garage, nestled near the Navmani Mosque, had been bulldozed not once, not twice, but three times by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) following complaints from the Sayyeds — one of whom works as a Maulana at the mosque. Each demolition deepened the Patels’ resentment, until, police say, vengeance became inevitable.
"You complained to CIDCO and got my garage demolished — I will see you!"
That’s the chilling threat victims claim the attackers screamed before raining blows.
The ambush was swift and savage. Rafel Hanif Sayyed (34), Saif Hanif Sayyed (24), Salman Sufiyan Sayyed (19), and Safwan Karim Tidare (27) were struck down with brutal force, sustaining serious head, abdominal, and limb injuries. When Ammar Haroon Madar and Naufil Hanif Sayyed (40) rushed to break up the carnage, they too were pummeled and threatened.
Panic gripped the street. Shopkeepers shuttered their doors. Passersby ducked for cover. Within minutes, the attackers melted away, leaving chaos in their wake.
By nightfall, Taloja Police had arrested ringleader Abdul Rauf Patel, but his sons — Afnan Patel, Safwan Patel, and Navman Munaf Patel — along with 8 to 10 other unidentified goons, remain on the run.
Police seized a steel knife cover from the scene as evidence, and senior officers including DCP Prashant Mohite personally inspected the blood-splattered site.
The case has been slapped with the harshest charges — attempt to murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act.
Senior Police Inspector Pravin Bhagat of Taloja Police Station told reporters:
"This was a premeditated attack. One accused is in custody, and we will hunt down the rest."
For the Sayyed family, the feud is far from over. For Taloja, this violent spectacle has left the community rattled — proof that a grudge over a garage can escalate into a fight for blood in broad daylight
