Rohtak, Haryana, INDIA: The Rohtak Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-II) has arrested Mastan, a wanted criminal involved in a triple murder that occurred on September 20, 2024, outside a liquor vend in Baliyana village, near Sonipat Road.
Mastan, a resident of Gejpura village in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh, was on the run for several months and had a reward of ₹5,000 on his head. He is alleged to be a close associate and sharpshooter of notorious criminal Rahul alias Baba, the prime accused in the case. According to police, Rahul is already in custody along with several other co-accused.
On the day of the incident, eight assailants arrived on motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire outside the liquor shop. Three people — Jaideep, a resident of Bohar; Vinay; and liquor contractor Amit alias Monu — were killed, while two others sustained injuries. Preliminary investigations had indicated that the attack stemmed from personal enmity.
With Mastan’s arrest, the total number of people apprehended in the case has risen to 11. He was produced in court and has been remanded to three days of police custody for interrogation. Authorities are now probing whether additional individuals were involved in the planning or execution of the crime.
CIA-II in-charge Sub-Inspector Satish Kadian confirmed that the accused is being intensively questioned to uncover further details.
