Dholpur, Rajasthan, INDIA : A horrific case of sexual assault on a toddler has been reported from Bari town in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, where a two and half year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour inside her home.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of May 23, 2025, around 3 pm, in the City Kotwali police station jurisdiction. According to the victim’s family, the accused—who resides in the same neighbourhood—entered the house under the pretext of playing with the child while the mother was busy with household chores. No other family members were present at the time.

The child’s cries alerted her mother, who rushed in, prompting the accused to flee the scene immediately. The victim's father was informed over the phone and rushed home.

Fearing retaliation, the family initially refrained from approaching authorities. On their way to the police station, they were allegedly threatened and intimidated by the accused and his relatives in an attempt to prevent them from filing a complaint.

Despite the pressure, the family reported the incident to police on May 25. The child was medically examined on May 26, and a case was registered under Sections 65(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

City Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Sharma confirmed the timeline and seriousness of the case. The investigation has been handed over to Bari Circle Officer Mahendra Kumar, who is leading a special team to locate and apprehend the accused.

“The accused is currently absconding. A dedicated police team has been deployed, and we are confident of nabbing him soon,” said Sharma. .
