Man, returned from Dubai, only to be dismembered by wife and her lover

Bhatauli, Deoria District, Uttar Pradesh, India: In a macabre crime that mirrors the infamous Saurabh Rajput murder in Meerut, a 38-year-old man who had recently returned to India from Dubai was brutally murdered by his wife and her paramour in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh. The grisly killing involved dismembering the victim’s body and attempting to dispose of it in a trolley bag, sending shockwaves across the nation.

Discovery in a Field: A Grisly Morning in Deoria

On the morning of Sunday, April 20, 2025, local farmer Jitendra Giri made a gruesome discovery in his field in Chakarpakdi Chapar Patkhauli village under Tarkulwa police station limits—approximately 55 kilometers from Bhatauli, the victim’s home village in Bhagalpur block of Deoria district. A suspicious trolley bag partially buried and abandoned in a vacant plot, caught Giri’s attention. On opening it, police found a male torso wrapped in plastic. The lower half of the body had been stuffed into a sack.

The body was later identified as that of Naushad Ahmed, a Dubai-based driver who had returned to India just 10 days earlier to visit his family. His identity was confirmed through documents found in the bag, a foreign SIM card, and a travel tag from an airport -- still attached to the same trolley bag he had brought back from Dubai.

Behind Closed Doors: A Family Torn Apart

Following the identification, police visited Naushad’s residence in Bhatauli. There, his wife Raziya initially feigned ignorance, claiming Naushad had left home the previous night. But police suspicions were aroused during a thorough search of the house. Bloodstains were found on a second suitcase, suggesting an initial failed attempt to fit the body into it.

After sustained interrogation, Raziya broke down and confessed. She admitted to plotting the murder with her lover -- shockingly, her own nephew, 28-year-old Ruman. The motive: Naushad was allegedly an obstacle in their long-standing illicit relationship.

Police revealed that Raziya and Ruman had drugged Naushad late Saturday night, April 19. Once he was unconscious, they strangled him to death. To avoid identification, they mutilated the body using sharp-edged tools. Their first attempt to stuff the body into a small suitcase failed. They then used a larger trolley bag, but even that required them to sever the body into two parts.

The accused transported the remains in a Bolero SUV and dumped the bag in a field nearly 55 km away. Both Ruman and an accomplice named Himanshu, who allegedly assisted with the transport and disposal, remain at large. Police are actively pursuing them.

A Trail of Deceit and Past Forgiveness

Investigations uncovered a disturbing history. About a year ago, during Naushad’s previous visit from Dubai, he had discovered the affair between his wife and her nephew. A village panchayat was convened, and Raziya had publicly vowed to end the relationship. Naushad, known to be a tolerant and compassionate man, had chosen to forgive her for the sake of their family, which includes their six-year-old daughter, Atifa.

However, the affair resumed behind his back. Upon his return this month, Naushad had reportedly grown suspicious again. What followed was a calculated and heinous act of betrayal by those closest to him.

Voices of Grief and Justice

Naushad’s elderly father, Mannu Ahmed, is inconsolable. “My son came back to see his family. He didn’t deserve this. My daughter-in-law has destroyed everything,” he told reporters through tears. Atifa, the couple’s young daughter, is said to be in a state of shock and confusion.

Naushad’s sister, Nisha, demanded the strictest punishment: “They killed my brother in cold blood and stuffed his body like garbage. They should be hanged for this.”

ASP Arvind Verma confirmed the case was cracked within six hours of the body’s discovery. “We traced the bag through its travel tag. The murder weapon—a chopper, axe, and pestle—has been recovered. The prime accused Raziya is in custody. We are using surveillance teams and local intelligence to trace and arrest Ruman and his associate,” he stated.

The Crime Scene: A Ticking Timeline

A Chilling Pattern of Domestic Violence

This case echoes the earlier 2025 murder of Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, where a man returning from London was similarly killed and mutilated by his wife and her lover. Such incidents point to a disturbing pattern of trust shattered within families, cloaked under secrecy, and culminating in shocking acts of violence.

As the investigation deepens, Naushad’s murder stands as a harrowing reminder of the dark undercurrents of human relationships—and the horrific price sometimes paid for misplaced love and trust.
