The Medchal police in Hyderabad (India) have arrested a 37-year-old stone cutter, Shaik Emam, in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered last week near a culvert on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Indian state of Telangana, witnessed this shocking crime, which detectives claim was triggered by a dispute over payment following a sexual encounter.

According to police reports, the victim, a married woman originally from Bodhan in Nizamabad, had left her home due to a family dispute and was residing in a rented house in Kushaiguda while working as a construction laborer.

On January 23, Emam allegedly noticed the victim standing near the Medchal bus stop and approached her with an offer of ₹500 in exchange for sexual favors. He then took her on his motorcycle to a secluded area under the causeway of the ORR at Muneerabad, on the outskirts of Medchal.

Following the encounter, the victim reportedly demanded additional payment, leading to a heated argument. Police officials stated that Emam refused to pay more and, during the altercation, strangled the woman until she lost consciousness. He then used a stone to bludgeon her to death.

In an attempt to destroy evidence, Emam allegedly poured petrol over the body and set it on fire before fleeing the scene. The partially burnt remains were discovered by passersby, who alerted the police.

A police investigation was launched immediately, with special teams analyzing the victim’s mobile phone records and CCTV footage. The suspect was eventually tracked down and arrested in his native village.

The Medchal police continue their investigation as legal proceedings against the accused move forward.
