Doctors save man pierced in a freak accident by 5-feet long rod through the neck

    Sagaya Fernando Mumbai: 6 November 22   A team of doctors at Apollo Multispecialty hospital in Triuchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, saved the life of a 33-years-old man whose neck was pierced through by a feet long iron rod.   Karthikeyan, a resident of Ariyamangalam in the city, was watering the concrete slabs on the first floor of his under-construction house when he accidentally slipped and fell 15 to 20 feet down, on October 15. As he fell, a 5 feet long iron rod with serrated edges pierced through his neck and came out from the back.   “Within fifteen minutes of the mishap, his relatives rushed him to our hospital which is in close vicinity,” informed Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, Triuchirappalli, Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon Dr Mohamed Mansoor, who led the operating team.   “On evaluation in emergency, it was seen that he had a 5 feet long iron rod penetrating into the anterior aspect of neck and exiting ...

A bike rider had a miraculous escape recently when he lost control over his 2-wheeler that rammed into the retention fence of a transformer at Vellayamkudi village in Idukki district of Kerala, India.

The speeding bike skid off the road and the force of the impact was such that the rider was flung off onto the road, while the bike somersaulted into the 1.5 meter high enclosure. Other riders and local residents rushed to his aid, but the unhurt rider managed to flee from the spot with his friends on another bike.

Later, the Kerala Electricity Board officials rushed to the spot to disconnect the line to avert any untoward incident. The power supply was temporarily disconnected by the electricity officials and the bike was removed with a JCB.

CCTV visuals of the accident show the biker losing control over the vehicle after he was travelling at a high speed. The bike steers off the road, and then rams into the transformer. It then got ensconced upside down inside the retention fence of the transformer.
