Mumbai: October 9, 2018

After coming across a YouTube video of a Pakistani man smashing 155 walnuts (and later 181 walnuts) with his head in a minute and set the Guinness World Record, 22-year-old S Navin Kumar of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh state, India, decided to break the record.

“While randomly going through YouTube videos I came across Pakistani citizen Muhammad Rashid setting a Guinness world record in breaking the most number of walnuts in 60 seconds with his head. First, he set a record of breaking 155 walnuts in a minute, and a year later he broke his own record by breaking 181 walnuts. I then decided to set a new record in this category,” said Navin, who holds a degree in Psychology, besides being a martial arts enthusiast.

“I had been practicing for one year. It was not an easy task. In the very first attempt I made to break a walnut with my head, I had a headache which lasted for a week. Gradually, through practice and grit I got used to the pain, and was able to shatter Muhammad Rashid’s record,” said Navin.

In November last year, Navin broke a whopping 217 walnuts in 60 seconds with his head and set a new Guinness world record for smashing the most number of walnuts with head in a minute. Navin methodically smashed the nuts, which were laid out in rows of two, while keeping his hands locked behind his back, in the stunt that took place in the presence of representatives of Guinness World Records. Yesterday (October 8), he was awarded the certificate for the same.

Doctors in India remove world’s heaviest Ovarian tumour Sagaya Fernando Mumbai: 24 October 2018-10-24 It was a quirk of fate that brought 46-years-old Vasantha – a farm hand with a massive abdominal swelling from the hill station of Ooty in Tamil Nadu, India – to doctors 85 kilometers downhill at Coimbatore who diagnosed it to be a gigantic ovarian tumour. “The patient’s abdomen started to swell gradually over a period of two years and started looking like as if she was pregnant with at least quadruplets. In the meantime, her daughter was to get engaged. Afraid of facing the people who would question her about the swollen abdomen and make snide remarks, she along with her husband Pokkisam approached a local doctor at Ooty, who diagnosed her of having a huge tumour and said that her chances of survival are slim even after a surgery.
